Ian’s Big Boy Seat!

2

Ian’s first Valentines Day and he even got a treat. His new big boy seat was delivered today! We talked with the doc, and since he’s only a few days shy of his first birthday, we can install the new car seat. That means Ian will now be reading in style and facing forwards.

The seat came in a huge box and you would think we would have thrown it away. Guess again. Jesse and Ian decided to have some fun with it and it now has a home in our living room. I’m not really sure how long we’ll keep it, but it keeps both Ian and Jesse amused, so probably until Ian’s birthday party on March 1st.

First Haircut

1

Ian had his first haircut today. We had it done at Carnival Cuts in the mall and Ian actually had a lot of fun. He was able to sit or stand in a red fire engine truck and play with the steering wheel (yes it really turned). He did try to follow the stylist, to see what she was doing, but then he would go back to playing with the wheel and seeing what else was around. All in all, it was actually a good trip. They ended up giving us a certificate with a lock of his hair to keep for his first haircut and they were really awesome about us taking pictures.

Dad Wins

Ian’s hair has been getting long- long AND curly. He looks like freakin’ Goldilocks. Jackie’s been insisting that we not get his hair cut for a few months now, but today she finally relented and we took him in to get it cut. Now he looks like a boy again instead of Shirley Temple.

Hurray!

Chicken Dance

This was the 3rd take- first one we didn’t have the camera, second one he decided to chew on my hand, and the 3rd we decided was “good enough.”

Baby Steps

He took his first step around Christmas, now he’s taking his first walk…

His First Steps!!!

0

Ian took his first steps today! We’re not talking about a step and then a stumble either. We’re talking about four or five steps without any support. He went from Jesse to me and did it all without a hitch. Unfortunately, he hasn’t done it again or we would have tried getting it on camera. :( He’s been taking tiny steps all week (the one step stumble), but now it looks like he’s getting ready to walk. He’s definitely pushing his walker and tables around more and he likes to hold on to our hands and walking. Give him until the end of January and I would be surprised if he isn’t walking completely unhindered.

Ian’s 1st Christmas

1

I honestly have no idea what to say about Ian’s first Christmas. It’s strange, but all I can think of is where I’m going to put all his toys. He really made out in the toy department. I’m going to go through his current toys and see what we can’t pack up because he’s either outgrown them or hasn’t played with them in awhile. Yes, you do see a drum set in the first picture. You can thank Grandma Morgan for that one. Although, to be honest, Jesse and I have been looking at a percussion set and this made Jesse’s day. Now ask him if he’s still excited about the drum set after a day or two and we’ll see if he’s changed his mind. :) Ian also got a couple of activity tables from the two of us. He goes nuts over the one at our Mom’s Group and we couldn’t pass up the chance of getting him fixated on something other than our bookshelves. Among his other toys are more musical instruments and a walker that turns into a ride. He’s already trying to walk, but he hasn’t made it past the couch yet. With the walker, we’re thinking he’s going to be taking off anytime. Look out world! We’re now officially two full months away from his first birthday. Man has this year gone by.

Burrito Time!

0

So at Jackie’s goading, I prepared Ian’s first burrito. Lets see what we have on here…

Refried beans, seasoned beef, onions, taco cheese, black olives, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and lettuce…
Ian

Ian got 1/3 of it, I finished the rest for him…
Ian

Will it Blend?
Ian
yes.

and the final reaction…

All in all he seemed to like it. Good boy.

Santa Claus

3

Ian met Santa Claus! Bright and early this morning, the two of us went to Somerset to visit with Santa Claus. It was the perfect time to go sine we were the first ones there and no one was waiting behind us. We were able to spend a little extra time with the jolly old man and I got more pictures than I thought I would. After his visit, Ian even got some loot….three silver coins he can spend at Somerset (but we’re just going to keep them). He even got to pick them out himself.

First Thanksgiving

2

Ian celebrated his first thanksgiving this weekend and I’m thinking he enjoyed it. He was able to sit at the table with us and ate right from my plate. That means he had some sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberry jelly stuff, and of course, pumpkin pie. He wasn’t allowed to have the turkey because of how stringy poultry is and he doesn’t exactly have that many teeth, but he still enjoyed everything. Next up is Christmas and a visit with Santa Claus. Still have to figure out when he’ll be around though.
