We Have a Name!

3

I had another appointment with the doctor on Oct. 25th. I know, I’m a little late with the update, but I had a good reason.

Anyway, everything is still going good. The baby’s heart rate was around 150 beats per minute (probably due to all the caffeine I’ve been drinking lately). The results from the ultrasound came back as being good. We also found out that there is a low risk of down syndrome, so that’s good. There’s always going to be some chance, but the doc says we’re really low on the risk factor. My next appointment is schedule for the end of November, so I’ll have more news to report around Thanksgiving.

Now on to the fun stuff. Jesse and I have picked a name for our son. It took us awhile to come up with a name and we had a list of seven that we were debating on (Auron, Caleb, Connor, Ethan, Ian, Jacob, Seth). We’ve finally decided on Ian. It took us a bit to decide on the middle name since none of the original 7 really worked well with Ian, but that has been taken care of as well. Our son’s name will be Ian Hawthorn. We’re still keeping Zoe Illyria for when we have a girl, but right now, it’s Ian Hawthorn.

Now that we have a name picked out and we know the sex of the child, Jesse and I have set up this blog site for Ian. This means, that all future baby updates will be posted via the web blog and I won’t be sending out any more emails. Any kind of news you want to find out about him will be here. This is something that Jesse and I want to keep updated and working so he’ll have it when he’s older as well. So please don’t be afraid to leave comments there. He’ll be able to go back and read through them once he gets old enough to read. :) I’m sure Ian will love to read them once he’s able. :)

If you haven’t noticed already, all previous posts about Ian that were done on myJaxon’s site have been transcribed here.

Ultrasound Results

0

Just received word from the doctor regarding the ultrasound results. They were able to see everything except for a few blood vessels in the heart. But no worries, they said this was due to the baby’s position. He was quite active afterall. Everything is looking good and my due date is still March 10th.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the ultrasound picture that we received.

More Baby News!!

7

I know, I know. I was supposed to send this around last night, but we were looking at couches. Which we bought, so now we have some furniture.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. Jesse and I had our ultrasound last night. Everything is fine. The baby’s heart rate was around 147 beats per minute. Everything is there – heart (going good from what I could tell), head, feet, hands, the works. I have 4 pictures of the baby. Since they were printed on an 8×10 sheet of paper, the image is kind of large, so I’m including a link instead of the actual picture. Now, for an explanation. The picture top left is of the foot, the one next to it is the hand. The bottom left is a front view of the face. It’s kind of hard to tell, but the bubble on the right is the head and you can sort of see where the nose and eyes are. Especially if you know what you’re looking for. :) The picture on the bottom right is a full profile of the baby. That’s my baby. :)

We have another appointment with the doctor on the 25th, so there will be more news then. I should be feeling something of the baby by then. Not sure how much I will be feeling, but after seeing the baby move last night, I’m thinking I’m already feeling it move and just don’t realize it. Jesse made the comment that he hopes the RLS isn’t heredity because the baby couldn’t seem to get comfortable. That probably had a lot to do with the ultrasound pushing down and all the water I had to drink, or it could have been the caffeine I had for lunch. :) Jesse and I are signed up for a bunch of pregnancy classes that start in January. The usual Lamaze style class, plus a pediatrician question answer session, breastfeeding, infant emergency/CPR, and a tour of the birthing center.

That’s all the news for now. I’ll have more to report in a couple of weeks. Oh, one last thing. It’s a boy. :)

Baby Update

4

Jesse and I went to our 16 week appointment with Dr. Wittingen today. We definitely heard the heartbeat again. It was pounding at 144 heartbeats per minute (which is normal). We also set up the ultrasound appointment, which will be taking place on October 11th (good day to find out in my opinion) and hopefully we’ll be able to find out if it is a boy or a girl. I honestly don’t care what we’re having at this moment. I want a boy, but since we have the girls name picked out (and I really like it), it would actually be kind of easier to have a girl. But who knows at this point. We’ll find out in a couple of weeks. According to the doctor everything is still going smoothly.

I’m not showing all that much yet, but the doc says in another 2-3 weeks, the baby will definitely start making its presence known. Still no morning sickness, so I think I’m in the clear with that. My back is starting to bother me a little at night, but it’s not that bad yet. Overall, I’m not feeling all that bad. I have noticed that I can’t bend or twist like I used to. :) And I am getting sore at the end of the day, but it’s more exhaustion/being tired I think. It’s been allowing me to completely sleep through the nights, so there hasn’t been any negative effect going off the sleeping pills. That’s great news.

I think that’s all the news for now. I’ll have more in a couple of weeks and hopefully a sex determination at the same time.

We Heard the Heartbeat!!

3

Here’s a quick update on the pregnancy. Saw the doctor today and we heard the heartbeat. That’s the exciting news. It was faint, but it was there. My weight stayed the same, so the doctor was happy. I’m told that for my weight, doctors like to see about 10-20 lbs gained during the pregnancy. That means no overnight chocolate binges. :) Thankfully I started watching what I was eating before the pregnancy so that hasn’t been too much of an issue. But I do have Mint Cookie Chocolate ice cream in the freezer. Mmmmm.. ;)

Anyway, we made another appointment to see him on Sept 26th. On that day, we’ll make an appointment for the detailed ultrasound, which is when the doctors will make an attempt at guessing at the sex. We’re still hoping for a boy, but I’m thinking it’s going to be a girl since we have the girls name picked out and have no clue on what to call a male child.

Stiill no agreement on a boys name yet.

First Doctor Visit

3

Jesse and I had our first doctor visit concerning the child. He did an ultrasound, which enable him to give us a more precise delivery date. The more accurate due date is now March 10th. He said the ultrasound machine can be off by 5 days either way, so the baby should be born in early to mid March. We saw the heartbeat today. That was new. Dr. Wittingen said we might be able to hear it at our next office visit (in four weeks). Oh yeah, since the due date was pushed back a little, that means I’m not as far along as we thought. I am, doctor confirmed, 8 weeks and 3 days along as of today. So yeah for that.

The best part, we got a picture of our child. The first baby picture! I didn’t think I would get one, but we did. Here, I’ll show it to you.

Sorry that the picture is so big, but it’s my FIRST CHILD. I’m sure you can understand. It’s not that big, but you can still see it. I’m not entirely sure how well formed he is, but you can see where the head is and where the umbilical cord is. I am pregnant. I have seen the child within. This is getting scary. :-0

Exciting News!!!!

3

I had to share the news that I’M PREGNANT!!!! Jesse and I went to the doctors last night and they confirmed it for us. We have an estimated delivery date of sometime in March (that’s my estimation, not the doctors). I’m still waiting to wake up one morning and find out I was on something good and it was all in my head, but by the look of stark terror on Jesse’s face, I don’t think I’m imagining things. I haven’t been to an obstetrician yet, but an appointment is being made for me. That also means I don’t know what I’m having yet, but I’m crossing my fingers for a boy. Jesse and I don’t want to be surprised, so we’ll find out what we’re having sometime this fall. Once I know, I’ll share the news. Alright, that was it. :)
