I’m a day late, but I thought I would let everyone know how Ian’s first doctors appointment went. He is still 7lbs 8oz, so he hasn’t lost any weight except for the initial ounces that is expected at birth. He head measured at 13.5 cm, so he has lost most of his cone shape (he was at 14 cm at the hospital). Yeah, it sounds like he is losing measurements, but the doctor assured us that this was fine. After all, the measurements are not an exact science – you try and keep a newborn from squirming. :) We have another appointment on Wednesday to check up on his weight. Hopefully will all the eating he is now doing, he’ll be putting on weight.

Also last night, Jesse and I gave Ian his first bath. Well, he had baths at the hospital, but this was our first bath with him. Yeah…..that was an experience. Ian was not amused to be getting cleaned or impressed with our tub. I’m sure it has more to deal with the fact that he was awake more than anything, so it’ll get easier once he gets past this always crying or sleeping stage.

I will say this, he has been a lot more alert lately. Jesse has had him on the floor a couple of times and he’s moving his head and arms. We’re told to put him on his stomach at least once a day so he can start strengthening his neck muscles. We’ve been using that exercise as a method of waking him up, which it does pretty well.
